Capital Companies

The Montana Capital Companies Act was designed to stimulate economic activity in Montana by providing tax credit incentives to investors in Montana capital companies, who in turn provide debt and equity financing to new or expanding qualified Montana Businesses. The Department of Commerce is responsible for oversight of the tax credits, qualified investments, and general operations of the program. Currently there are no active capital companies and no tax credits available. All of the capital companies that received tax credits under the Act have reached the investment goals outlined in statute and have been decertified. Businesses interested in finance should use the Finance Information Center for information on access to capital.
