Japan Trade Office - Ms. Mako Sakaguchi, Representative
The first Japan Trade Office opened in Tokyo in 1988. To take advantage of Montana's close ties to its sister-state Kumamoto, a second office was opened in Kumamoto City, Japan in 1990. For budgetary reasons the Tokyo office closed in 1993. The Kumamoto office continues to serve as the Japan Trade Office. As part of a reciprocity agreement with the Montana Department of Commerce, the Japan office is located in rent-free space provided in the Kumamoto Prefecture capitol building.
